Pau Torres is a top class centre back that every major side in Europe should be tracking.
Comfortable on the ball, commanding and full of confidence. Those are just some of the words I would use to describe him.
His rise at Villarreal has been quite the journey.
In 2018, Torres was loaned to Málaga for one year. A superb season in the Segunda División during his spell as the club reached the promotion play-offs led to him being recalled by the club.
Upon his return, Torres quickly cemented his place at Villarreal, playing every minute in the league. His rise was so impressive that a few months into 2019 season, he was rewarded with a contract extension until 2024.
International recognition followed soon after with his first call up for Spain in October 2019, for UEFA Euro 2020 qualifiers against Norway and Sweden. He had to wait until 15 November to debut but when he finally did he scored in a 7–0 rout of Malta.
The world is his oyster in footballing terms as at 23, his best years are well and truly ahead of him.
