I would have happily stayed at Newcastle for the rest of my career.

“I loved living in the city and Ioved the fans, I felt really comfortable where I was and I was hoping to get the club back to the top levels.

They decided in anyway they could, they wanted me out of the football club. I couldn’t stay with a board and an owner who was hell-bent on getting me out of the club.”

QPR came in and my missus was pregnant, and I wanted security.

“They offered me more money and a four-year deal, and at that point I made the financial decision.

It’s the only financial decision I made, and to be honest I did regret it. I shouldn’t have left Newcastle.”
