I wanted to take you back to the beginning and the start of your footballing journey. How did your journey start on your road to becoming a professional footballer?
I was five years old when I started playing football and I played in my hometown of Lille in France and it was always my dream to become a professional footballer and from a small age I always had a ball at my feet and every opportunity I had to play football I took it in my quest to become a professional footballer one day.
You came through the youth setup and debuted for Valenciennes FC in your native France. How do you look back on your time at the club and do you have any highlights or special memories?
I arrived at the academy of Valenciennes FC when I was 15 years old and I stayed at the club for five years and I had a great time and it was a really good experience and Valenciennes FC were my first professional club and I remember the pride of signing my first professional contract and doing everything for the first time and I will never forget my time at Valenciennes FC and starting my journey in professional football.
You are currently playing for Fehérvár FC in Hungary. How are you enjoying your time at the club and how would you describe a club such as Fehérvár FC?
Fehérvár FC are a great and very well respected club in Hungary. When I arrived at the club I really liked it because they are one of the best clubs in Hungary. They have great facilities and everything is really well arranged for the players, staff and fans and we play good football too. Our objective is to become champions of Hungary and there are two teams in Hungary Fehérvár FC and Ferencvárosi TC who are the known as the best in the country and they are often fighting it out to win the Hungarian football championship.
You have been capped by your country of France at youth international level. How do you look back on representing your country and do you have any highlights or special memories?
France is a big country of football and it is an honour to represent them. They won the FIFA World Cup in Russia in 2018 and France always has good football players and especially good young players so I was really happy to represent France because they have too much quality in football and many very good footballers as well.
You have accrued a lot of good experience at club level and youth international level. Could you say who are among the best players you have played alongside so far in your career?
Yes, with the French national team I played with the likes of Kingsley Coman and Benjamin Pavard currently playing for Bayern Munich in Germany and Moussa Dembélé who is currently playing for Atlético Madrid on loan from Olympique Lyonnais and we represented the French national team together at under 17 and under 18 level and it is good to see how players progress in their careers at club and international level and they set a good example.
I have not had the same career but I am delighted to have played alongside them in my youth and you have to dream in football sometimes.
Finally Lyes, could you say who are the coaches and managers who have meant a lot to you and played a key role in your development as a professional footballer?
Yes, I have been very fortunate throughout my career so far to have played under many good managers both at home in France and abroad too. Many managers have taught me many different things and trained me to keep going during my career as a professional footballer and it is something that has been really good and also something that I have appreciated because it has held my in good stead for my career as a professional footballer.
